Introduction

Hi dear guest! The purpose of this blog is to show you how harmful video games can be for our children and provide you with various solutions of this problem.

In this world of media dominance, it is easy to underestimate or simply forget about the damage excessive media exposure does to our children's overall health. This damage is a tricky one, because it doesn't show up instantly and intensely, but it is there and should definitely be taken care of. The excessive exposure to media ( especially videogames) may lead not only to the physical harms (weight gain, sight damage, inactivity, sleep disorders), but also mental problems that result in lower academic achievements and even increased level of aggression and violence.
The blog will provide you with the factual evidence of the harm video games impose on children, will discuss some articles and research material related to this topic and in short, will try to make you truly aware of the danger.

You are welcomed to ask any questions, write any comments about this issue. I'm looking forward for your participation. Check Spelling

  1. Hi. I have to say that I am very concern about children who play these violent games. First of all it seems to be very difficult for these kids to realize the difference of what is real or what reality is, second of all the rising aggression in their behavior is provable and scary. Some shooting games are so well improved that even some soldiers are trained with them. There was a case of teenage boys who wanted to burglar a shop. When the shop assistant suddenly appeared in front of one of those boys, the boy shot the guy straight into his forehead as a pure reaction to the situation. To shoot someone in his head needs training and after questioning this young boy the police found out that he was “trained” thanks to the shooting game he played. So in my opinion there needs to be done some steps to avoid the situation like this, and give back to the children the childhood we used to have. Tereza Rehakova

  2. Hey, I am as Tereza concerned about this issue. As mentioned in he blog the video games may lead to aggression not neccesarily to murder or rape but to serious personality disorders. In my opinion violent video games should be available only for children above a specific age, and it has to be controlled. I could se a perfect video addiction at home. My brother played these violent games, and after became more aggressive. Thankfully boxing 'ball' used to be enough for him to empty his emotions but we, his family had to stop his active game playing habit.
I would also like to join Tereza in her last phrase hoping that our children will have the type of childhood we used to have.
Good job Ekaa.. I enjoyed reading your blog! :)
